In life as in art, working towards a goal is difficult.
There are many barriers we put in our paths. Some of them are mental. Some of them are physical.
Some of them we know about. Some of them mascarade as "help."
One book that guides me through it all is this one:

The Creative Act: A Way of Being
By Rick Rubin
I can't recommend it (or buy it for people) enough. I own two physical copies and the audiobook if that tells you how much I love this content. I ingest a chapter before every writing session. It clears my mind and gets my spirit in writing mode.
"How do you know when the work – and the working – is good?
How can you tell when you're moving in the right direction?
What does forward motion look like?
The Ecstatic."
If you're following your excitement, then you're doing it right. Whether 'it' is an artistic endeavor or just a way of living, the ecstatic is your compass.
And I'm so excited about writing. I'm ecstatic to one day finish this memoir. There's still fear, anxiety, exhaustion, and just life, but I push through it all. Some days are better than others, but that doesn't matter. Showing up for myself is what matters.
I'm counting on me.
